Welcome to 2018 from the PVAFC President

Well here we are, still in Premier B and another year awaits us.

I am sure the 2018 season will bring its share of highs, lows, challenges and celebrations.

The players have been training hard over the summer and are eager to get into the real action with a couple of practice matches scheduled for late March before the regular season kicks off on 7 April at Beaumaris.

The club has been working closely with the Kingston City Council to ensure we have adequate change facilities including showers, toilets, and first aid room for the 2018 season; you will see these going into place as the season approaches. Those of you pining for a schnitty roll rest assured, Anne and Graeme will be running a canteen from a fitted-out container.

Thanks to Mordialloc Lifesaving Club, Kingston Hawks Cricket Club and Mordi-Brae JFC who have been good enough to give shelter to the homeless!

The club will be holding an information night on 14 March at Walter Galt to address all your questions on the logistics of the 2018 season.

This year we need your support more than ever, so please the following dates free;

2 March –   Season Launch / Club 200

14 March – Information Night

17 March – Practice match v Mordialloc

23 March – Golf Day at Rossdale Golf Club

24 March – Practice Match v Karingal

As a club we should be extremely proud of our achievements in 2017 and be looking to build on that as we see the younger players grow and take ownership of the club both on and off the field.

Parkdale Vultures Amateur Football Club…. Club?  What does ‘Club’ mean? The Oxford Dictionary defines is as ‘an organisation of people with a common purpose who meet regularly and take part in a shared activity‘.  Sounds like us.

It’s you (yes, you!) who make the club. It’s Pricey and Grazer putting their heads over the ball, its Charlie not getting a free, it’s Maddog spitting and screaming instructions, it’s Dougy with the fun, its Mac’s terrible interviews, it’s Sheeza with the flags, it’s an anonymous man yelling at the umps from the scoreboard, giggling trainers, Thommo on the siren, Peaky making friends with the opposition, Jimmy Clark showing the way to the Under 19’s, Pete’s cordial, Shiny’s baggy trackies, Hunty not happy about something, Dave having another red, John and Mary behind the bar, even Farnsy and his croquembouche.  All of this, and more, will be on display from the Vultures in season 2018.

It’s Round 1 at Beaumaris.

So… bring it on!
